The Dubai Design Week 2025 Experience

Dubai Design Week 2025 — held from 4–9 November 2025 — once again energized the city as a cultural and creative hub for design in the Middle East.

With its central exhibition platforms, installations, talks, and curated programs, the event transformed multiple venues across Dubai Design District (d3) into a dynamic landscape of ideas, materials, and artistic exploration.

As both an architecture and interior design studio in Dubai, Claire Dominics Buro views the week not simply as an exhibition, but as a moment of creative dialogue — where design thinking, cultural context, and material innovation intersect.

Design in Dialogue with the City

This year’s event felt especially dynamic — with large-scale outdoor installations inviting interaction and indoor showcases highlighting craftsmanship and experimentation.

Many of the installations were placed outdoors, allowing design to interact directly with the urban environment.

Sculptural structures inspired by organic forms stood against glass façades and modern buildings. Woven materials, layered wood, and textured surfaces echoed natural elements such as dunes, trees, and desert landscapes.

One installation interpreted the movement of sand through layered wood forms, creating depth and rhythm across a wide surface. Another used repeated curved modules to build a pavilion-like structure that invited visitors to step inside and experience the geometry from within.

Material Exploration and Craft

A strong theme throughout Dubai Design Week 2025 was material experimentation.

From wood fragments arranged into dune-like formations to woven structures resembling abstract trees, designers explored how traditional materials could be reshaped into modern expressions.

Natural textures played an important role. The installations felt tactile and grounded, even when their forms were bold or unexpected.

This balance between innovation and craft reflects Dubai’s broader design movement — a city that values both progress and heritage.

Interior Showcases and Creative Exchange

Inside exhibition spaces, visitors explored curated displays featuring emerging designers and established studios. Guests moved through installations at a thoughtful pace, observing details, discussing ideas, and capturing moments of inspiration.
